Our Favourite Meal Replacement go to Shake

A meal replacement smoothie is great for those on the go who want something quick and affordable. It can be used as a tool for those looking to lose weight by replacing snacking.

We put this smoothie together for a few reasons. 

  1. We wanted to incorporate collagen into the diet. Collagen supports, skin, hair, bones and connective tissue.
  2. Meal replacements are convenient especially with a busy schedule
  3. Sometimes we want a break from fruit smoothies

Chocolate Nut Butter & Collagen Smoothie - What You'll Need

  • 2 Cups Vanilla Yogurt
  • 1 Cup Almond Milk
  • 1 Cup Ice
  • 1 Scoop Collagen
  • Heaped Tablespoon Peanut Buttur
  • 1 Tablespoon Caramel Syrup
  • 1 Teaspoon of Chocolate Powder
  • 1 Teaspoon of Hot Chocolate Powder

Optional Extra

  • 1/2 Cup Roasted Hazelnuts

Replacement Options

If you want to avoid the sugar from the caramel syrup you can replace this with about 3 to 5ml of vanilla extract.

Organic Collagen 

Adding collagen to a smoothie provides a rich source of protein and essential amino acids. It's easily absorbable, supporting skin elasticity, joint health, and gut function. Plus collagen tasteless when added to this meal replacement smoothie

The roasted hazelnuts are worth adding if you have them (we didn't on this occasion). But we add them at every opportunity. The best way I can think to describe the flavour profile is Nutella flavour which is very satisfying.

How Long Does it Take to Make the Shake

I've never timed myself making one but I would say maybe 4 mins to make the smoothie and about the same amount of time to wash, dry and pack the ingredients back. I'm going to say 8 minutes. That sounds about right.

How I Typically Use a Meal Replacement Shake

When I'm reducing my eating window to around 5 hours, I'll skip breakfast and break my fast at around 2 pm. I'll use this smoothie as a stopgap until dinner. It's great for convenience—I don't have to think about what to make, and it's quick to prepare and easy to clean up.

The fats from the nuts keep you satiated, which is a benefit you won't get from fruit smoothies.

Give it a go! Swap out the gross powder shakes with something that packs a way better flavour profile.
